CATARUGA
A Reinvented Vision
of Sailing
Cataruga's Spirit
At Cataruga, we believe in another way of experiencing the sea. At Cataruga, we believe in a different way of experiencing the sea. Our ambition: to put freedom, simplicity, and respect for life back at the heart of sailing.
Founded by Jean Sommereux, engineer and sailor, Cataruga was born from a dream: to create a catamaran that was robust, elegant and durable, designed not for raw performance, but for the pleasure of living on the water.
CATARUGA embodies this philosophy.
This name was born from the fusion of catamaran and “tartaruga” (turtle). The turtle symbolizes a different relationship with time, one of patience and longevity.
It represents a slower, more thoughtful, and more respectful way of sailing: an invitation to slow down and truly feel.
Cataruga speaks to those who seek a genuine connection with the sea.
The Turtle 147
A catamaran designed to go far and live fully
The Turtle 147 is Cataruga’s first model: a 14.7-meter ocean-going catamaran designed to deliver smooth, intuitive sailing with the utmost respect for the environment. Every detail has been carefully considered for life on board: reinforced bows, adjustable ballasts, energy independence through solar panels, ergonomic helm stations, and refined interior comfort. Everything comes together to create a simple, elegant, and secure experience. Its design, noble materials (aluminum and Paulownia), and artisanal craftsmanship make it an exceptional vessel, built to stand the test of time. The Turtle 147 is not about raw performance, it is a true companion at sea, designed for those who dream of a different relationship with time, space, and nature.
